Amanda Ruth-McSwain: Director
Serving as Series' director for four years and counting, Amanda Ruth-McSwain is the primary contact for the Bully Pulpit Series. Dr. Ruth-McSwain strives to bring students and national leaders together in meaningful and productive ways. Through candidate outreach and media relations, she promotes the Bully Pulpit Series on a strategic level. With a central focus on the student experience, she ensures that the Series provides unparalleled access to our nation's political system so that students are able to engage in the electoral process in an active, participatory way. Dr. Ruth-McSwain’s tenure as both an undergraduate and graduate professor have afforded her a keen understanding of student desires and interests, a perspective she shares with Series' guests in ways that other host sites cannot. Dr. Ruth-McSwain has elevated the Bully Pulpit Series, making it a valuable stop along the political campaign trail.
Cassandra Foster: Event Coordinator
Contact point for all event details, Cassandra Foster coordinates logistics and promotion for the Bully Pulpit Series. With a focus on a well-executed experience, Ms. Foster exercises precision in every area of event planning, from venue security to vendor contracts. At the College of Charleston since 2008, Ms. Foster shares a detail-oriented work ethic, adaptable personality, calm disposition and understanding of the college campus with Series' guests. In her staff position with the Department of Communication, Ms. Foster organizes two semi-annual conferences, and executes about 12 major events each year. Before living and working Charleston, she worked in print journalism and design in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication from George Mason University.
